Below is a list of commonly asked questions relating to the Safety Culture products and services.
As little as 15 minutes:
That is it! Of course, if you want make a custom cover page, or spend as long as you want adding your own content, you can. Most companies find the OHS Policies are up to date, and ready to print.
Once I have customized my OHS System what do I do next?
After customising your system, we suggest you give each employee their OHS Manual 48 hours prior to inducting them into the company policies. SafetyCulture provides Online Inductions, or you can simply talk through each of the policies with your employees. Print a copy of the employee policy agreement for your employees to sign and then keep a copy on file.
No prior OHS experience is required to implement the policies. An understanding of your business and the risks involved is most important.
Yes, you should have an OHS Diary or recording station wherever workers spend most of their time. Individual diaries can be purchased from our online store. What specifications does my computer need to have to use the OHS System? Your computer is required to have Microsoft Word 2000 or later installed. With Microsoft Word you are able to view, edit and print the OHS System.
Every employer is required to provide a safe system of work for their employees. You need to have a written structure to your system, ensuing it can be updated, so that employees are given the same message and you have documented evidence of what has been supplied.
A policy is the guiding light. What the company sees as its objective. Example: We value our image so no damaged vehicles will be allowed on the road.
A Work Method Statement is the nuts and bolts of how you do things. Example: You will report all damage to vehicles to the supervisor as soon as it occurs. The supervisor will obtain a replacement hire vehicle. Two quotes will be obtained sort of like an Act and the Regulations. One outlines the overall aim and the other tells you what/how you are to do things.
Yes, although the level of risk varies from industry to industry, every employer has a legal obligation to provide a Safe Work System. Workplace policies form part of a OHS System.
This is a common misconception amongst employers. No Government workplace inspector will ever give you a written letter stating that you are now complying with all of your obligations as an employer. It is similar to driving an unregistered vehicle and being pulled over for a random breath test. Just because the officer fails to realize that your vehicle is unregistered, doesn't make it ok to drive. This is precisely what happens when an inspector pays a visit. They are a visual presence to raise awareness and compliance, they generally look at obvious visual risks. Inspectors do not have the time or resources to conduct comprehensive OHS Audits.
About 20 minutes with no video, or around 30 minutes with the Safety Essentials video. Customised inductions will vary in length depending on content.
Yes. Inductions can be tailored to meet your company policies, they can include company photos, video and logos. Reporting channels can also be customized to suit your requirements.
Once an Induction is completed, the manager is emailed a certificate of completion including a list of the OHS units covered.

About 30 minutes. It is best to take some care doing the Assessment as your program of exercises will depend on the answers you give. So we advise you to do this when you have a few quiet moments.
You can take the Assessment as often as you wish. In any case we advise redoing it at least every month, or when you notice different symptoms, to keep up with changes in your general condition.
We only count keystrokes and mouse clicks and measure the types of mouse motion.
No. Desk Doctor uses the answers to create your exercise plan and then immediately removes them from its memory ensuring that your confidentiality is secure. With Desk Doctor you decide when to exercise based on the Health Score displayed in the Health Monitor. This way your work is not interrupted. You take a break when it is convenient.
You get maximum benefit from the exercises if you do them close to the way they are demonstrated in the video. Read the accompanying text for extra guidance.
There is a button at the bottom of the screen which starts a video tutorial and another button '?' (question mark) that explains the process via text help. Why do the exercises change every time I do the Assessment? (How much should they change?)
As your health improves, the types of exercises you receive will change as well as the frequency of certain exercises. This is completely normal and part of the way that Desk Doctor adapts to your current needs.
